Europe

In Europe, NYSA works at the intersection of sport, education and research, designing programmes, shaping dual-career pathways and contributing to EU-funded projects that strengthen support for young athletes across the continent.

Our Focus in Europe

Designing Pathways, Shaping Systems

Europe is where much of NYSA's programme design, research and dual-career work takes shape. Working alongside universities, sports institutes, clubs and federations, we help build the education systems and athlete pathways that allow young people to succeed in both sport and life.

Programme Design

Developing structured, evidence-informed programmes that connect sport, education and personal development.

Education Systems

Working with universities and sports institutes to strengthen dual-career support for student athletes.

Athlete Pathways

Building routes that help athletes balance competition with education and prepare for life beyond sport.

Camps, Testing and Community Engagement

European Activities

Beyond our EU-funded research, NYSA delivers hands-on activities across Europe: high-performance camps, sports science testing events, and community engagement programmes that put our approach into practice on the ground.

Riga, Latvia

Sports Science Testing at RFS

Working with RFS Academy, NYSA delivers sports science testing and monitoring for young players, using VALD equipment to track physical development and inform coaching decisions across the academy system.

Jurmala, Latvia

High-Performance Camp

A high-performance football camp preparing 13 to 15 year olds for elite environments, drawing on sports science expertise and testing with partners at Liverpool John Moores University to build a periodised week leading up to matchday.

Motala, Sweden

Youth Engagement Programme

Community-based youth engagement working with disadvantaged young people, using sport as a tool for inclusion, personal development and social connection.

Norrtälje, Sweden

Development Camp

A football camp focused on using play as a vehicle for developing both sports-specific and general movement skills in young players, delivered in a positive and fun environment with a valued partner club.

EU Projects

European Research & Innovation

NYSA is an active partner in EU-funded Erasmus+ projects, collaborating with organisations across Europe to research, develop and pilot new approaches to athlete development and dual careers.

Erasmus+ (Sweden, Latvia, Finland)

Through the FOCUS project, NYSA works with partners including RFS football club and LUSF in Latvia, and leading sports institutes in Finland such as Kisakallio and the Sports Institute of Three Campuses. The project strengthens dual-career support across Europe, including collaboration on an internal Dual Career Programme with RFS. NYSA has also facilitated international internships, connecting sports science students from the University of Murcia (UCAM) with partner clubs to deliver strength, conditioning and physiotherapy support.

FAITH

Erasmus+

The FAITH project underpins NYSA's Future Coaching methodology, providing coaches with modern education focused on holistic athlete development, life skills and meaningful learning environments beyond performance alone.

WIN-WIN project logo

WIN-WIN

Erasmus+ (Sweden, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Italy, Malta)

The WIN-WIN project brought together partners from six countries to develop an educational course for student athletes covering communication, resilience, decision-making, teamwork, self-esteem and time management, alongside policy guidelines on pension and retirement support for athletes. The course and materials were piloted with student athletes and experts across all six partner countries, contributing to a stronger dual-career environment across Europe.
