What Makes These Partnerships Work

Partnerships in Practice
A closer look at three partnerships that show the range of NYSA's work, from academy-level sports science to EU-funded research and international camps.
RFS
Rīgas Futbola Skola (RFS) is one of Latvia's leading football clubs, with a strong academy system that develops young players towards professional careers. NYSA partnered with RFS Academy to strengthen its sports science capabilities, bringing sports science testing and monitoring, a long-term athletic development (LTAD) education and framework, testing equipment supplied through VALD, coach education and internships, participation in EU Erasmus+ funding, and the creation of a Dual Career student athlete programme.

Dual Career and EU Erasmus+ Projects
NYSA's dual career programmes give student athletes from Sweden, Europe and beyond the chance to study and play sport with world-class support, including accommodation, sports science equipment, appropriate-level clubs, university education, nutrition support, personal mentoring and career guidance. This work led NYSA to lead the FOCUS project, redefining dual career offerings for student athletes across Europe, alongside related projects including DC Mentor, HERFORM and Fit Football.

Jurmala & Norrtälje Camps
NYSA has run football camps with a difference. A camp in Norrtälje used play as a vehicle for developing both sports-specific and general movement skills in young players, delivered with a valued partner club. A high-performance camp in Jurmala District, Latvia, prepared 13 to 15 year olds for elite football environments, drawing on sports science expertise and testing with partners at Liverpool John Moores University to build a periodised week leading up to matchday.
